Brianna came up to us and pulled me aside, I left Phantom with Hunter while we walked off.

“Sorry about your test, I dropped my phone in the stands, I assume that is what spooked your horse,” Brianna explained to me but I honestly wasn’t buying it. She was way too sweet to me, it was uncomfortable, and had me on edge even.

“Your test was still good though, I’m surprised.” She said to me, it seemed like sarcasm but it was too hard to figure out if it was or not.

“What do you want?” I asked her, hesitantly.

“Well, I figured we could try and start over, make up?” Brianna replied with a smile, she had me shocked. I stood and stared at her, confused why she asked me this. I didn’t want to start over after everything she had done to me already, let alone what Hunter warned me about, but I felt bad about saying no.

“Uhm, sure why not?” I replied slowly, I tensely gripped the ends of my shirt as if holding any tighter would help the situation, but it didn’t. “Great! We should hang out this week, get lunch together and chat.” She said joyfully, I could only awkwardly smile back at her in response. I was lost for words.

She led me over to her horse which was being groomed by some younger teen. I tried not to let it get to me, can’t judge a book by its cover. “This is my new mare Rosé, I thought you would like to meet her since I heard you’re a mare person.” Brianna introduced me to her new horse, who looked to be an Iberian breed. The large neck and roman nose gave it away. She was a lovely dunalino with a long mane.

“Oh, congrats on your pregnancy, I hope the fall didn’t hurt the baby.” Brianna said cutting me off while I was mid petting the mare. Her words had my heart sink to ocean floor.

“How did you--” I looked at her even more shocked than before, she had a stupid innocent smile on her face. “Everyone knows Cadence, we can tell.” She had a cold smile on her face. I wasn’t even that far long to notice.
