Description
I then found myself in a rather Max-like position. Erasers and various antagonists on one side, and a cliff on the other. Well, do I want to be eaten alive or feel wind rushing past? In short, I did just like Max did, and jumped off the cliff. Yes, it may not seem like a good idea, but do you want to be eaten alive? Didn't think so. Besides which, I've got several friends with wings. I've just got to manage to summon one of them. And I'm falling fast. Not good."C'mon guys, now would be good." I sighed to myself as I clasped my hands over my chest.
"I never expected you to be so reckless…" Genesis sighed as he caught me.
"Well, my choices were, fall off a cliff and hope you catch me before I hit the ground, or be eaten alive." I said, "So I chose the former, seeing as there was a higher chance that you'd catch me. Which you did."
"But you still gambled your life."
"Yes, I know that full and well. But I didn't want to be dismembered while I could still feel. Nor did I want to be dismembered at all. Besides which, though I took a chance, the odds turned in my favor. I say that this turned out rather nicely."
"It was luck, Cat."
"And I'm not going to question it nor argue with it." I sighed. "Are the others okay?"
"Yes, they're waiting for us."
"Where?"
"Back in Edge."
"Ah. Thank you." I said. He raised an eyebrow at me. "For telling me."
This story has gotten dangerous. It's hard to imagine that I was ever a normal girl. I know this is what I dreamt of for so long, but once it happens, you realize why your character suddenly became so serious. It still feels surreal. But I still am enjoying most of it. I'm glad that all this is happening. This'll prove who's going for destruction, and who will protect the loveable teenage author. The DANGEROUS loveable teenage author. I'm equipped with several dresspheres and CAN fight. Never pictured that, huh? Well, for now, the others are focused on protecting me.
We arrived at Edge and slipped into 7th Heaven. Tifa greeted us while catering to my very frightened parents. I smiled widely.
"I managed to cheat death for the first time!" I said with pride. My mom's eyes nearly bulged out of her head and Dad shared the expression. Yuffie high-fived me. Tifa just shook her head.
"Cat, will you at least TRY to be careful? At least for your parents' sake?" She sighed.
"Yeah, and that WAS being safe. Would you rather Erasers eat me?" I asked.
Now everyone was a bit startled save for Genesis.
"What?" Zack asked, "Eat you? Are you kidding?"
"No she's not." Max supported, "But why- the key."
"Exactly!" I said with an awkward smile.
"More of us need to stay with her." Yuna concluded.
"That might not be a bad idea." I sighed.
It was hectic. It was amazing. It was like a tornado or a rollercoaster if you think about it. It was deadly, dangerous, fast, goes up and down, but also fun, beautiful, and smile-worthy. It was hard to tell apart the bad from the good, since I just loved everyone who supported and will fight along with me, whether they are antagonists or protagonists, or both. Later, in my room, I opened the window, gazing out at the stars when I heard a knock at my door.
"C'mon in." I said, turning. It was Aerith. I smiled. "Hi."
"Hi Cat." She said, sitting next to me.
"So, you wanna talk to me about something? How come you're here so late?"
"I've just been wondering. You never expected this when you started writing fan-fiction, did you?"
"Heck no." I said, resting my arms on the windowsill. She looked to the stars with me. "I don't know why, but I find the night sky comforting. It's so clear, so… hopeful? I don't know how to describe it."
"With all of this, even the power of the author can't come into play."
"You mean knowing what's to happen next? No, that's not what authors do. We figure things out as we go. We never know what's going to happen next."
