not really, but here's how i understand both sides.
It's blue and black if I were to ignore any possibility of lighting and prove so by grabbing color swatches.
Honestly, the answer to the color COULD BE be both black/brown and blue or gold and white.

How to see white/gold
Hey we're all artists. I'm guessing some of us have shaded with multiply right? Imagine using blue as your shading color when you add shading to the dress. The shading is only added in the front. Imagining its only light source hitting against the dress' back (there being a backlight), you can understand how people can see the dress' color as being white/gold. (just that it's cast into shadow.)

Despite logically understanding this, you have to stare at it for a while. You'll know when you see it. my roommate Tiercels has seen it and has asked for me to share this with you: "GUYS I WAS A NONBELIEVER I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE BEST PRANK OF THE YEAR BUT I HAVE SEEN THE WHITE"

How to see blue/black-brown
If you assume that there is already light hitting the dress at the front, you can take it to be blue-black/brown.

But still, you gotta see it in real life to find out what color it is.
