Description
The dove has always loved life;that much is clear.
Trees and tulips and
tabby cats, she embraces everything,
she loves all.
It seems fitting that flakes of
her old self now rest in the sea
that spawned empires; by now,
she's probably in the belly of a few fish.
(She would have liked that.)
Unopened packets
of idli mix wait
to be cooked,
children grow up,
they never learned what happened to the
bright-eyed
thick-haired lady with an accent
and a smile.
My own happiness nearly drives me to suicide.
It's funny how many people never care,
they just look straight ahead,
refusing to saw off
the boulders
they
tied around
their ankles.
Next summer,
the same waters will envelope me
like a schoolteacher,
all fat rolls and bright smiles,
embraces her children, and I
will
remember.
