Description
For this project, we (second year students) were tasked with designing both a bird watch tower, and an aviary. For this assignment, we all had to use steel as a structural element, but beyond that, we were permitted to use any other material. The site is located in DeKorte Park, located within the Meadowlands, here in New Jersey. For my design, I wanted to pay homage to the local industrial heritage, while providing a space for the local ecology to prosper. Throughout my design process, I took inspiration from a local bridge called the Upper Hack Lift Bridge.
