Kit: Sootshadow remembers warm nights, hushed whispers, and gazes full of longing and the feeling of being loved. That was his first memory before he woke up in the MoonClan nursery with Littledove and her kits. He was raised alongside them and knew nothing else except that his father was Cloudleap, a brave MoonClan warrior who helped protect the Clan. Sootkit eagerly looked up to him and alongside his sister, Lunarkit, was ecstatic when he came to visit. Soon enough, however, Sootkit noticed that Cloudleap seemed only interested in the pair of them, despite being Littledove's 'mate'. Worrying for his mother, he turned to Littledove and was reassured. But that was the first time that Sootkit came to doubt his father.

Apprentice: Sootpaw was apprenticed alongside to Lunarpaw, Greypaw, Reedpaw, and Snowpaw. He loved being an apprentice and couldn't imagine doing much else. His training went smoothly and quickly, he became best friends with his brother, Reedpaw, and often used to poke fun at Snowpaw. But everything changed the day that Thistleheart joined MoonClan. She was different, rude, and a bit harsh towards everycat, and stunk of LightningClan. The littermates didn't seem to mind the she-cat's blunt membership of MoonClan. That was, until she decided to become mates with Cloudleap. The grey-and-white apprentice couldn't handle that and promptly demanded for her to leave. That was when she revealed that she was his mother. That was when Sootpaw's whole world came crashing down.

Lunarpaw and Sootpaw were told of Thistleheart and Cloudleap's secret affair, of how it began during a border skirmish, and how Thistleheart chose her Clan over him, in hopes of finally getting accepted by her father by becoming deputy. But then, a Clanmate found out about the affair, six moons after she gave the kits to Cloudleap, and she was cast out, and she sought comfort in MoonClan, where Cloudleap accepted her as his mate again. Littledove was just Cloudleap's best friend as an apprentice -who, in truth, actually fell in love with him- and accepted his kits as her own. Traumatized, Sootpaw resented them for their actions and never spoke to them for the rest of his apprenticeship.

Warrior: Sootpaw was given the suffix of -shadow, to honor his stealth and speed. Lunarpaw was granted the name Lunarflower, and even Greypaw, Reedpaw, and Snowpaw became warriors around the same time and were given the names of Greyecho, Reedtumble, and Snowhawk respectively. Sootshadow chose to stick with Littledove instead of spending time with his true parents, like he had wanted to do since he was a kit. He favored his adopted littermates over his trueborn sister, who seemed intent on sticking with their true parents. Sootshadow spent his days on patrols and trying to figure out his next course of action. That was when Greyecho approached him and stated that the other trio -Snowhawk, Reedtumble, and herself- knew of the other's predicament and confessed that she had always felt attracted towards Sootshadow. Alarmed, he disagreed and assured her that he only thought of her as a sister. Wistfully, Greyecho exclaimed that Reedtumble also seemed to fancy Sootshadow, which only increased Sootshadow's surprise. He never called Reedtumble on it but he kept a distance from the two littermates and instead spent time with Snowhawk and Littledove. The rest of his warriorhood went uneventful for the most part.

But he couldn't help but wonder what if he accepted one of their mate proposals...

He only looks forward towards the future now and hopes for something that's worth living for.
