Oakclaw: His mentor. Birchfall when an apprentice used to dislike Oakclaw due to his excessive ranting on about his mate, Mossleaf and how he didn't appreciate his attempts to impress his mentor and protect Squirrelkit, Oakclaw's daughter, from Mossleaf's recklessness and such. Although their bond didnt mend before Oakclaw died, Birchfall stil misses his mentor dearly and sometimes even cries whenever nobody is looking. In the original concept path, it was going to be that before he was killed, Oakclaw requested personally to Pinestar that Birchfall was Squirrelkit's mentor when she was apprenticed, and Birch would have been a sobbing mess after he found out.

Squirrelpaw: His apprentice, and kind of a sister figure to him, Birch and Squirrel's relationship is quite a complex one. When Squirrel was a kit, Birch acted as the big brother and babysitter to her most days and nights whenever Oak had to do a patrol and he didnt trust Moss to watch her, or when he was placed on a restraining order agains Moss and Squirrel. The two adored eachother's company. When Squirrel's parents got divorced, Birch acted as more of a parent figure to Squirrel and comforted her. When she asks him if her parents love eachtother anymore, however, that's when their relationship sorta wavered the moment he answered, saying that they didnt exactly love eachother, or at least that Oak didnt love Moss anymore. She takes this the wrong way and denies it, lashing out at him before storming off. The next time they talk is at Moss' trial in regards to the murder of Squirrel's father when Squirrel orders Birchfall to brutally but legally murder Moss and without hesitation, he does as he's told. Then when he's made the mentor of Squirrel, Squirrel is seen happy again, then instantly moody and angry as she remembers that her father wasnt able to see her be apprenticed on account of him being murdered and this affects how she approached everybody from that moment on: Moody and angry and blunt and seemingly distressed, although she takes most of it out on Birchfall.

Blazeshine: His friend and possible romantic partner, the two care deeply for each other and have grown a tight bond in the little time they've known each other (about 3 moons? Maybe 4) and subcounciously (Maybe even fully intentionally) 'flirting' but ijn the more aborable awkward manner if I had to describe it. Birch tends to get slightly flustered whenever she's around but not so much as to where he literally can't function for an hour afterwards, as for Blaze, she doesn't show it as much, but trust me, it's there. The two usually defend eachother whenever it comes down to talking to Leafstep, which usually ends up in an arguement and everyone throwing insults. Birch has shown that ge can get defensive as he has stood up for Blazeshine when Leafstep said something about her fighting skills. Blaze is also comforting to him as when he started to have doubts about being ready to be Squirrelpaw's mentor and compares himself to Oakclaw, with Oak being of the higher skillset, Blaze reassures him that he's ready and that he shouldn't compare himself to his past mentor.

Leafstep: Their relationship isnt in the best state, as every encounter hasn't been a friendly one. The start of the rocky road started when she walks in on Birch and Blaze talking about Squirrelkit's parent's divorce and such and Leaf says that it's for the better, and then they get into a full on conversation about it and when he says that Oakclaw deserves full custody over Squirrelkit and Leaf says his opinion is biased because he's the apprentice of Oakclaw, he ges defensive and says as the babysitter of Squirrel, he's witnessed Moss's recklessness secondhand and that his opinion wasn't biased, but facts. Every conversation since then hasnt been friendly. Leaf does say that even though Birch and Blaze strongly dislike her that she considers them 'friends' and it was said from TurdleHeartDrawz that Leafstep used to like Birch (Idk if she meant in a friendly manner or as a crush) so that's something.

Mossleaf: Birch hates Mossleaf with a burning passion, but nobody hates her as much as Squirrelpaw. Nonetheless, he never liked the way she was careless and didn't think before she acted on things which lead to Squirrel almost dying like over 20 times just during her kithood. He then saw that she killed Oakclaw and that's what set him off, as after the battle, he took the same stake that Moss killed Oak with and tried to kill her, and with the help of Blazeshine. he almost did. Then after the trial and after some choice words were said by Squirrelkit, he was ordered by Squirrel to kill Mossleaf, and he does so without hesitation and more anger yet nervousness instead.
