Only that it is backlit.
Composition wasn't planned,but I played long enough to get something I liked (about 2 weeks after that).
I rarely immediately like a photo.It's always during browsing or archive-sorting.

The values I am referring to is the use of light and dark...the contrast. Very tastefully used to give a dramatic/sculptural feel to the piece.

I really like how the backlighting works in this, really, it just gives me another reason to stare at it more because it makes me want to make out its colour. I also like how the safety pins were placed, although I'll admit that when I first looked at the picture, it made me think of mechanical arms (which isn't a bad thing, but probably wasn't what it was meant to look like). The unfocused background is also a nice touch, I find, due to making the centre of the image that much sharper.

I was lucky when I got this shot,because not much thinking was put into it and it was all quite instinctive.I just felt like putting the pins into the heart,had the whim to shoot it backlit.I didn't even think about what it's supposed to mean at all >.<

Well, it came out beautifully, so that's probably a good thing that it was all instinctive! XDD I guess that's what usually happens, but it makes it all the more fun to see what people will come up with in what they think it means, right?

Exactly! the awesome graphic designer Paul Rand said that whatever you come up with,people will ALWAYS see something in it or read a meaning through it.
Even if you intended to not have a meaning at all.
