Timothy was built in 1913 as the LB&SCR's original No. 100. He was the only E2 painted in the special grey livery that he took great pride in. The livery was changed however when a mix up occurred with the paint, and he was painted in a lighter grey livery with yellow lettering and numbering. He worked mainly as a shunter for about 3 years and during that time, ad grown a great relationship with one of his brothers. An engine soon to be named Thomas. Thomas, however, had been sent to Sodor and written off as 'lost in the war' much to Timothy's dismay. However, in 1916, he was loaned to Sodor to help with construction. Upon arrival, he was overjoyed to see his brother Thomas again and was pleased to know he was in good hands.
Timothy helped with the mainline expansion most of the time and was not as cheeky as Thomas which led to the other engines respecting him a lot. Nevertheless, he always stood up for his brother and calmed him down when angry. Until one fateful night when Timothy was going to the unfinished viaduct after Maron. His brakes didn't work, and he realized what would happen next. He told his crew to jump out and they did just in time before Timothy plunged into the lake below, damaging himself awfully. He was craned out the next day, but had lost most of his funnel, side rods, paint, and most of his teeth. The NWR, with no money or resources at their works to repair Timothy right now, sent him back to Brighton to be repaired. He emerged from their works in 1931 in SR Black and started working for the Southern Railway. He, again, worked as a shunter and worked short-distance goods trains because of his water capacity, coal storage, and because the crew had to take extra care with him ever since his accident on the NWR.
However, things didn't stay that way because as soon as the Big Four Railways grew, things took a turn for the worse. Timothy was painted in BR Black, given the early BR crest, and sent straight to Southampton with his other siblings. He worked there as a harbour shunter, but due to the tight curves at the docks, he was swiftly replaced by a USATC S100 named Rosie. However, Rosie and Timothy became friends and worked alongside each other under Timothy's tutelage. Rosie also gave Timothy the nickname, 'Tim' and Timothy gave her the nickname 'Rose'. Unfortunately, things got more tense when the BR 07s came, and Rosie was replaced by one named Salty. Salty however was friendly and the three friends got along and cracked jokes and all. Salty also gave Timothy a nickname 'Timmy' which Timothy liked. Sadly, Timothy was withdrawn from service completely and was told he was going to be sent for scrap which upset the three friends to tears...
But as luck would have it, before he was going to be taken for scrap, news came in that the NWR was in need of another engine. They had looked for steam engines to save and decided to buy Timothy. Rosie and Salty were happy for their friend and when he was taken away on a well wagon, they sent him off with whistles and horns of happiness, as well as farewells. He arrived at Barrow where Henry came to pick him up and took him to Crovan's Gate. He was swiftly rebuilt to match Thomas, but under his request, kept the sloped running board. He came out of the works a few months later to the delight of all the other engines. However, the teeth problem wasn't fixed but Timothy didn't mind, but some of the other engines called him 'Cracked Teeth' because of this. Later on for unknown reasons, Timothy started to get wrinkles on his face, possibly due to sleep deprivation because of nightmares he's been getting about the day he plunged into the viaduct. This led to the nickname 'Wrinkles' but they stopped because they felt bad for him.
Nowadays, Timothy had many odd jobs around the island. He can be taken any type of train on Sodor and often helps the Ffarquhar Engines when the workload gets to heavy. He's the island's second E2 and had proven to be a 'Really Useful Engine'!
