usually when thinking species, people come up with lizard- or bug-types often with many humanoid features

cat-girls and furry creatures are nice, but they tend to be overdone...
i liked the ronso's in ffx, but, again, already done...

but i still think furry creatures are worth considering, and here's what i came up with, after a few rounds of sketching ^^
cute, pointy ears, quite high up, but not directly ripped off from any particular animal...

and they're furry...

i'm running out of words here, just look at the pics

i had other ideas too, like water-based creatures with fun head-tentacles, and of course the classic eecky-bug, and dinosaur-types, as well as these cute bug-people, and these small weird creatures, but, i have no 'decent' sketches of them, so i'm not sharing
