Description
My 1 year and 2500 follower celebration flash [link] for Firestarter Spitfire. Sort of a semi-continuation of Escape (link to it at the end), and features a bit more frame by frame animation than a lot of my previous projects. I'd really love to know how your able to use such high density blur/glow effects without making it lag too much... it's really screwing me over with this flash i'm working on >_< btw, beautiful work<3

First, thanks~
Second, effects always lag more in timeline preview than they do after export (the big multicoloured explosion slows playback to like 7fps in timeline). If you really want to get a handle on what your effects look like, test the scene. Third, there's tricks for making it look like you're using more filters than you really are - shape tweening (like in the aurorae here), colour tints, fades and property tweening all take load off your filters. And fourth, I guess it's a question of getting a feel for where the limits are. There's probably some mathematical formula for it, but as a rule of thumb, try to minimise the amount of work that the filters are doing - fewer edges to blur/glow around, less screen time, less layering and movement of blurred objects, etc. You also shouldn't need more than 2 filters on anything at any given time, and I can't think of any case where 2 blurs are necessary.

I just have an old one for playlist grabbing, and while I would make one for posting animations, getting these things from Flash into video format is a pain. Sorry!

It's not really Adobe's fault actually, they bought Flash from Macromedia and inherited all the weirdness that comes from a standard invented in the early 90's. It's a minor miracle that Flash is even still relevant!
