"Do you ever wake up to realize your life is meaningless?"

    The rumble of a fist slamming against the floor was all he needed to know exactly what was going on. With a glance at the bedroom door, his slender fingers placed his book for the evening down for a break. He had long lost count of how many times he had been through this same process of trying to calm you down. Despite your doubts, he didn't mind taking care of you when you were in this state. After all, you were his love. Nothing for you ever seemed like a burden.

    His palm pressed open the door to find you as you always were. Being all hunched over with your head against the wall was a common sight nowadays it seemed. A few steps forward brought him right to your side as he kneeled down next to you. Not a word was spoken. The only sounds that filled the room were that of your sobs. His arms pulled you into a sweet and gentle embrace, one that you had been longing for.

    "Shhhhhhh. It's okay. It's okay...I'm here."

    Feeling powerless and comforted all at once, your body completely relaxed into numbness.

"Does it give you strength or lead you to your grave at a young age?"

    Akaashi ran a gentle hand along your head in hopes to soothe your aching mind. He had not a clue what thoughts were circulating in your head. He only knew that you were hurting and that you needed him in the moment.

    Through labored breaths, words fell upon his ears that caused his chest to cave in.

    "Nothing I do even matters. I just want to die. I can't do anything right. I can't even control my own fucking thoughts."

    No. You couldn't get away with that. Propping your chin up, his eyes demanded your attention. In moments like these, you swore he would just explode at you. You imagined everyone else lashing out just as you would. Emotions are often impossible to control at times, especially when they are crippled with a mental illness. Akaashi understood though; he didn't need to know every small detail to properly help you.

    His free hand cupped your cheek, treating you more of the physical reassurance you needed.

    "You are more than important. Don't let those thoughts flying through your head define you."

    A kiss to the forehead mid-speech earned a smile from your lips.

    "There are plenty of people that love you and care for you. Your family, your friends, your teachers, and me of course. We all care about you and want to see you do well."

    Your response was simply a sniffle, non-verbally agreeing with his words. Akaashi would never be able to take away the toxic thoughts and feelings in your head. No one can, after all. But, he sure made life a hell of a lot better.

    Time seemed to freeze in moments like these. When the two of you were together after a tender moment, a content sensation filled your body for awhile.

    "Are you sure you're a human and not my guardian angel?"

    Chuckling, Akaashi pressed his forehead gently to yours.

    "You save me more often than you realize. Don't ever forget that."
