Qiphinx are beasts that prefer to live in solitude.

They do not live in packs and tend to occupy one space at a time, preferably abandoned structures created by humans.

They are intelligent beings capable of human speech. They are a diverse species, many resembling the environment or fauna around them. Despite their resemblance to Sphinxs and Qilins, Qiphinx are considered neither and are not hybrid creatures.

Qiphinx are capable of having any horn type. Their bodies are always deer-like (or resemble a member of the Cervidae family) and they will always have dragon-like scales. Their plumage will usually resemble or be similar to birds native to the area they live in. While most have a smooth scaly underbelly, some will have fur instead. Qiphinx are also capable of having manes, which are not exclusive to one gender. Their back legs will always resemble a member of the big cat family.
There is no sexual dimorphism in their species. Rarely, they will have more draconic features such as bat/dragon wings.

Qiphinx age at a slightly faster rate as humans. Newborns are usually born looking like the human equivalent of a 4 year old. They have not developed feathers yet and usually will be covered.
After they're born, they age more slowly. They usually stay with their mother until they are capable of flying and feeding themselves, which is usually age 10.
While they reach adulthood at 18 like humans, they do not stop developing till they are 22. Qiphinx live to be 100+ but they are not Immortal. They get slightly larger each year they age, and begin to age even slower.

Although Qiphinx don't have strong magic powers outside a some fire and healing magic, they are sometimes targeted for their impenetrable scales or their horns that have a medicinal use.
There are fights on the morality of hunting them. since they have the same level of awareness and intelligence as humans.
