The S/ADF-2 is the Drone variant of the Boeing S/AF-5 Tempest. As Confederation Military doctrine operates on a 1 to 2 ratio for pilot to drone wingman ratio these fighters make up the bulk of the air wings on Confederation ships and airbases. The S/ADF-2 is the same airframe as the S/AF-5 with the cockpit pod replaced with an Microsoft-IBM Neural Processing pod installed in its place. The lack of life support equipment that supports the Cockpit in the S/AF-5 means that an additional weapons by is freed up allowing for the S/ADF-2 to carry more munitions into battle. It is the interchangeable pilot pods that make the S/AF-5-S/DAF-2 pairing revolutionary as the make or computer cockpit pods are interchange able. This reduced the amount of spare fighter need to be carried on ships allowing for larger active air wings. As with all Drone aircraft in Confederation service their AI's are linked to the S/AF-5's AI to allow for faster reaction times.
