A woman in the black long sleeve dress walked along the beach, the sun on her face and the waves crashing at her feet. In one hand, she held a birdcage, and inside it a red bird flitted about, tiny and vibrant. But what nobody else knew was that the red bird was once a man, transformed by the woman into this feathered form.

She had been a powerful witch, and on a cold and stormy night, she had come upon a man stumbling through the rain, lost and disoriented. She had taken him in and cared for him, and in return, demanded he pledge his loyalty to her.

But the man had longed for freedom, and the witch had sensed his rebellious spirit. So, in a moment of anger, she had turned him into the red bird, trapping him in her birdcage for all eternity.

Now, as the woman walked along the coastline, she whispered words of magic to the bird and watched as it performed acrobatics inside the cage.
