This is why I always preferred the comic's portrayal of the characters. It's well established that Knuckles, like Shadow, has a mysterious past, is the only thing like himself as far as he can tell, and he knows the unique sense of loneliness that comes with it. Of course, the games stopped caring about Knuckles after Shadow came along, so this parallel has never been mentioned. But this story did, and this page showed the strength of Knuckles' character  when he defends Shadow while he learns about his own past.

Anyways, I don't usually type long comments on old artwork, but I guess I do now Good pencils, they remind me of James Fry's work on the comics. These actually might be better than the originals by Yardley!
