I guess it's because of how Cato never really expressed any emotions for his fellow tribute until she died. (Like Blackstar and Russetfur.)

Russetfur was killed so effortlessly, however I never noticed how old she was until I read Yellowfang's Secret. I was like: GAL U BEH OLDDDDD

But it wasn't Lionblaze's fault, Russetfur was trying to kill Firestar and so Lionblaze just dragged Russetfur off of Firestar and Russetfur died, after all, Russet fur was really old. She lived since Yellowfang's secret.
