Na-hyae was adored by her homeroom teacher for her intelligence, and was a top student in her classroom in Yeondu high school. The adoration her teachers gave her an ego, and would often proclaim to her disgruntled classmates about how she's smarter than everyone else. None of them liked her, and would try to avoid Na-hyae as much as possible.

One afternoon during math class, the teacher called each of the students to answer the problems on the chalkboard, and due to how easy they were, they all got it correct. But when Na-hyae was called to anser an equation, she had read the question wrong and incorrectly solved the problem. The Teacher was shocked considering the girl's reputation, and scolded her to not make the same mistake next time.

Na-hyae was extremely embarrased, and felt ashamed as her classmates all laughed at her and called her an idiot. When classes ended, and all the students left the classroom, Na-hyae was still there. She was angry at the teacher for scolding at her in front of the class, she was angry at her classmates for reveling in her humiliation, and most importantly, was angry at herself for getting the equation wrong.

Even when she got home, she couldn't stop thinking about what had happened. She hated her eyes for reading the question wrong, she made herself believe that it wasn't her fault, but her eyes. So that night, she snucked in a knife into her room... And dugged her eyes out, bleeding to death on her bed.

Ever since her death, it was said that if anyone left a math equation unsolved in the same classroom Na-hyae used to be in, her eyeless ghost will be summoned, and will try to complete it.
