A guide that NO ONE asked for because NO ONE knows about my Secret Dog Knowledge. My dad used to run sled dogs and I enjoy Doggo Facts, so together that creates this thing. Plus I have the benefit of being a bona fide Alaskan who had a unit about the Iditarod in elementary school (don't think too hard about it).

Really, any dog can be a sled dog. That includes some dogs you wouldn't ever think of! There's a picture of my grandfather running Charlie (lab mix) and a Doberman I don't know the name of while Ugiuvak the husky runs by the side doing nothing. Remember that when you write about sled dogs. Sled dogs are also notoriously stubborn.

Alaskan huskies aren't a breed, but a mix of many breeds. However, they are selectively bred for. If you search up 'Iditarod' and look through the dogs, you'll notice there aren't that many purebred sled dogs. Alaskan huskies can be a mix of everything from Siberian husky to pointer to wolf. Their defining characteristic is being long and leggy.
