Description
The funniest texture to make up to today!
This involves surgical gauze, coffee, coffee powder, cocoa powder and hairspray to hold everything together 
I could use the hairdryer lest the powder flew everywhere, so I tried to dry it in a warm oven, which resulted in the burn marks you can see at the corners. Finally, had to let it dry for ages

Where did this piece get a Daily Deviation?
It's just about what we do at art school and then THROW AWAY. Test pieces. Textures. Whatever. Stuff that you don't even hang in your exhibit space, but you put in your test pieces portfolio, which is rarely opened an viewed.
What's so special about this anyway?

Just as you say, this is only a "texture". It is filed under the "resource" category, which means it is uploaded there to be used in digital/traditional art as a reference, orverlay or whatever.
It has been DDed as a resource, as there are resources DD everyday, which are not art on their own, but who are judged in terms of usability, originality and quality (resolution, lighting, etc...)

When you have an issue with a DD, you are actually (based on Deviantart rules) supposed to contact the gallery director instead of the artist. The artist doesn't choose their own art work as a daily deviation, so arguing with them about it's suitability as a DD is useless.

I don't give a hoot about the gallery director. I don't deal with "directors" and "managers". It's the mind behind the piece I want to converse with.

Your comment dealt with this being a DD. You didn't critique it as a resource. You didn't even understand it was a resource. I don't care what you personally don't deal with, and I have a perfect right to mention a DA rule to someone who is not following it.
Also, I think you are kind of confused by what a gallery director is.

You are not even commenting on the work. Or for that matter still talking about your initial question of why this was a DD. You are just being plain rude.
