Description This picture was nearing or already reached a year in age so I thought "Ehh...Better get it over with..."
At the time it was fueled by a mix of AI,the Chip and Dale movie, and whatever that whole Graggle Simpson nonsense was.Presently only the Artificial Intelligence aspect is still technically relevant so I am going to say some of my thoughts based on personal research experience in playing around on one of the art prompt generators...It's really going to be a while before there's any true reason to really worry and some things will always be "better" done with human hands. The acronym speaks for itself, the "genius" only goes as far as who is providing the data and while you might get all these fancy-schmancy details at the end of the day it's "accuracy" and "recognizability" you want and for characters leaning more on the niche fanbase tier they're not being represented as good as the titular family or Pokemon that are viewed more popularly for one reason or another.About a year ago around this time simply typing in "Smithers" generally gave you a zombie-like wonko Mr.Burns-Looking figure in glasses but now you might be lucky to get a young adultish figure with Bart's hairstyle but light blue.
As for the origins of the name and looks for the Not-Quite-Smithers there's a lot of "reality" to that.Wayland being a common mistake the captions make in the closed captioning of older episodes and Smothers being what can happen if you aren't too careful watching the spellcheck/auto-correct.He's a mix of common and lesser "mistakes" over the years such as the black/post-vacation can skintone of the first physical appearance of the character, missing his glasses/eyebrows,and one of the various discolorations in hair/clothes.
