So here are my preliminary sketches of Finnick Odair I completed on my mission to Newcastle yesterday and today. I must have changed his hair and face a thousand times and I'm still not sure...The only one I vaguely think is right is the one of 14 year old Victor!Finnick. (That's the one full body in the middle). The ones on either side are Finnick in the Quarter Quell and the two faces in the middle are random Finnick. (Though they look a little odd...)
Genuinely interested what you think. I'm finding Finnick a puzzling character to draw. It's almost as if I know what I want him to look like but I can't picture it, if you understand me. So tell me what's wrong? What's right?

The Finnick closest to the bottom looks like he is kissing other finnicks butt. If you think about it. Anyways I love,love, love it!

of all the sketches of finnick, according to how i see him, i like the two to the right and the bottom one best. i think they're all great! i see him, though, as a bit less stocky and more lean...my own opinion though because that isn't specified in the books

YES! Oh I cried over him... so much,.... I think his hair is a bit too much... up? I mean, when I picture Finnick's hair I think a little sandy from sun-bleach, and a bit weighted as if it wants to perpetually be wet from the ocean... like it's so used to the weight of salt that, even when clean and dry, it bends from it... if that makes any sense...

I think you should give the older Finnicks the same innocent expression that the 14 y/o has... And try to do the same hair style....

I agree about him looking sorta like your Gale and Peeta. I think his body is too thick, too stocky. He comes from a lifetime of swimming, so I picture a bit more angular and well, a swimmer's build. I pictured a tall, strong shouldered, lean but very muscle-y, very handsome guy. I dunno. I find Finnick difficult to explain as well. Maybe if you colored it things would come together better?

Sort of looks like a mash-up of your Peeta and Gale. I kind of picture him not necessarily super stocky but that really inverted triangle swimmers body but a bit thicker I suppose.... Just kinda tossing an idea out there. I super love this though, I've been curious to see how people will develop his image in their mental eye.

I like the younger one! He's got slightly longer hair there..looks a little more surfer-dude than when it sticks up so much maybe?
I know what you mean though, it's so hard for me to picture him solidly...the moment anyone look perfect, I have no idea what I'm supposed to imagine, lol.
