Story: ((comics)The Michaels and the Waynes were close families that always seemed to be together. Then, one fateful night, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne were killed in front of their only son, Bruce. Years later, the Michaels both died a few days after their daughter was born in a terrible car accident. Bruce felt bad that their daughter, Emma, had no where to go, so he took her in. The two grew up to become friends, even if they were born many years apart. Emma eventually found out about Bruce being Batman, and she felt jealous. She demanded that she become his side-kick or something. Of course, Bruce said no, telling her that it was too dangerous. And of course, Emma ignored his warnings, becoming the Nightengale. She was soon joined by Robin and Batgirl, etc.
(christopher nolan movies) She has the same origin as with the comics version, but Emma does NOT get involved with the crime fighting. She is like another Alfred, helping Bruce with research and stuff, as well as sewing him up when needed. It's still undecided of whether she knows that Bruce is alive at the end of The Dark Knight Rises.
