"I'm cold," She muttered, nuzzling deeper into his chest.
"You're always cold." He said with annoyance, putting his arms around her anyway.
"Shut up,"
They stood there in a peaceful, welcoming silence. She tucked her head under his chin snuggly, balling his shirt up in her fists to just keep him in place, to keep him close. She breathed him in, feeling like a creep as she took in his scent, his warmth. Just him.
The only reason she felt creepy was because they weren't together. She wasn't sure what they were. Some days, he was a total ass, pointing out her flaws and just being annoying in general. But, other times, he was nice to her, telling her anything and everything with a smile as he gazed at her through his long auburn hair, yet still being annoying. It confused her immensely, leaving her pondering his words, his motives, and if he was being serious.
One day, he'll mention something about a girl he's talking to, giving her the impression that he wasn't interested in her. Then, the next day, he'll bother her (which, in hindsight, doesn't bother her at all) with stories, compliments, and send her heart skipping. And there was the constant jokingly phrase of "I love you" that was thrown from his mouth at least once a day, with which she would respond with the oh-so witty "I know". Clever.
And then there was the fact that a friend of hers questioned her about her feelings toward this boy. Before she could either lie or sputter (or both), the friend continued on with warning her about the boy. He told her that he was a creep, someone to be careful around. This left the girl more confused than ever. Why would her friend ask that? Was she that obvious around the boy? But, when would this friend have seen the two together? Did the boy send this friend to ask her, only to warn against him? What was going on?
Her mind drifted away from everything, from her "brain wishes", from the dream she had the other night of just lying in bed with him (doing nothing more than that, mind you), from imagining how her friends would react to her confession of her possible feelings towards this boy, and from the awful rumors and maybe true things whispered about the boy.
She needed an escape, and here in his arms was the best escape she could've ever asked for.
Then, she woke up.
