I don't see how this helps at all. I've tried
my best, but writing in iambic 5
just doesn't work for me. Am I supposed
to listen to some stranger's conversa-
tion? That would end with me in cuffs; the cops
would stow me in their car and drive away
with sirens blaring. No, there must be some
alternative to that...Why can't I sim-
ply write without specific meters? I
don't like to bitch about iambic 5
but, honestly, it drives me crazy and
it makes me think of cars that have an en-
gine problem. But, unfortunately, my
opinion on the matter doesn't count.
