Description
How could clairvoyance foreseesuch despair brimming to the surface
of the numbing cold deep within her heart?
Sorrow needs no welcome to settle
within those walls already hemorrhaging
from unvoiced wails - the pain
of loss simply takes its turn in the saddle,
gripping the hurt she can't escape.
Her crippled soul will suffice.
How much like a rat, scavenging for
rotten nourishment, anguish is -
its claws only dig deeper, vested into
the flesh of her misery as it chews
her inside-out, until her organs are
flush with the wind, until all can
see the torment of losing a loved one:
her beloved kin.
How can she pretend the stares away
while walking in the same, old shoes?
Wishing on stars won't bring back the dead.
