Description

The forest was silent. Normally the birds would sign until the last sun rays touched the hills before the night would fall swallowing everything to darkness. But not this time. The birds had flown away escaping the recent storms and leaving a silent forest after them. Kinuski moved her ears listening if there were any bird calls but failing to hear any and she sighed deeply. Maybe the birds would come back when she would help put some bird nests up. The small toki trotted up to a tall brown pine tree that she has previously deemed as worthy of a nest carrying a birdhouse on her mouth and when she got close enough she rose to her back feet placing her feet onto the side of the tree. The sun was going down already painting the forest in its warm rays warming her butterscotch brown coat as she tried to place the birdhouse on the pine. She tried wiggling the birdhouse and moving it on the nail that was placed to the side of the tree, but nothing seemed to work to keep the house up and it kept coming down. Once she almost got it to stay, but yet again it just stumbled back down.

She sat down defeated with a slight thump sound and sighed deeply “I didn’t know this was going to be so hard.” she almost whined as she threw back her head closing her eyes. She sat there for a while looking around and listening to the wind blowing among the trees. Somewhere close she heard a squirrel going up and down the trees. Looking back where her eyes had sat just moments ago she saw the birdhouse lying in the tall forest grass again and she hoped it would by some miracle just place itself onto the tree. Feeling down she bit her lip and growled. “No, I should get back to work. This is getting me nowhere. I came here to do this and I will not leave until I have done what I came to do!” Almost by force she stood up again trying really hard not to feel bad about the situation and she trotted back to the birdhouse and by determination she placed her teeth onto the dark wood and she lifted it. The birdhouse was really light and the brown wood planks that it was made from weren’t the prettiest but Kinuski was sure that it would make any bird happy. The toki yet again hopped and placed her short legs onto the pine tree’s side and tried placing the birdhouse onto the side of the tree.

She wiggled it again and almost gave up again but decided to place the birdhouse back to the ground a while. She placed her paw onto the birdhouse and turned it around to see the back of it and a realisation hit her. The rope that was supposed to keep the thing up had split in half. No wonder it didn’t stay on the nail that was placed on the tree side. She carefully replaced the rope on the back and tried once more to place the birdhouse onto the tree. She hopped against the tree and reached up to place the house and this time she felt a small resistance on the birdhouse and as she released her hold on it she saw that it stayed.  Kinuski jumped down and looked at the accomplishment she had done and smiled happily.
