The epic tale of Maxwell Vs the trees. In a battle were there can be no… well I guess this explains how his sleeves got so ragged. You’re sapose to walk through the trees, not into them.

Anyway Max trying to stop Jo. This also is showing alittle of his superstitious side. According to legend there is a border to Dawn that once is crossed the town will vanish before your eyes and you’ll never find your way back. (Actually the never part is a bit of an exaggeration, there is a chance you might find it again or you could get help getting inside but where would legends be if they weren’t exaggerated). As far as the children know this is just a sorry to keep the younger kids from wondering off, but apparently Max took the story to heart as he tries to keep his friend from disappearing

I like how Joanna came out in the first panel. I don’t know why. Usually I have to draw and redraw before I can get pictures right but this one seemed to work for me from the time I first put it to paper.
