In this twist, Ariel returns to Ursula without knowing what she did. You've seen Scuttle noticing from the mirror. If it DIDN'T REFLECT Ursula, would Scuttle suspect her? I'd say No. Ariel would return to Ursula, as agreed - under apprenticeship. Still no voice, but does she need it?
Ursula can make contracts. With this transformation, so can Ariel. They can read and write, so no voice is needed. (some fans have questioned this - Ariel should've written what she wanted to say or even love letters to Eric).

What direction does Ariel go with such power? How does Flounder and Sebastian take it?
I'm working on a continuation of this. I haven't set a rating for viewers yet.

NOTE: You could subtract the mirror aspect on the remake. Would Awkafina's Scuttle notice Ursula? If she knew the witch's voice, yes. If not, Halle's Ariel would go through a similar transformation in an alternate ending as well, but she'd need her voice (there was no magic scroll, pluck a scale and draw blood) and powers would be different (you don't see as much magic, and the ployps don't seem to be mermaids).
