Story: Alex's life can best be described as a two-headed coin, where the odds are stacked against him. When he was born, Alex's family could barely afford to take him home. Desperate, his father joined the military, where he was taken care of, but that all changed when Alex was 4. The military came up to both his house to tell both Alex and his mom about his father's death. But before he passed away in hospital, he managed to scrap together one last video which was compiled into a video that was exclusively his. The video was essentially an auto biography of his life and how much Alex meant to him. From growing up with a broken family, to meeting Alex's mother in High School, there wasn't a thing he regretted, and hoped to serve as a role model for his son.
It took Alex a good while before he was able to talk with anyone, and family events made Alex feel...Uneasy, to say the least. Eventually, they did have to move back near family, where it turns out, Alex has the a condition known as Asperger's Syndrome. This is a condition that stunts his social skills, causes him to not show emotions properly, and becomes fixated on certain topics that peek his interest. His family managed to acknowledge this and still supported him, specifically his Uncle Joe, and Aunt Sarah. Another 5 years later, Alex's mother would also pass away due to a battle with cancer. Left with no other family aside from his aunt and uncle, Alex was left in their care.
As Alex grew into his teen years, Alex felt alone, despite having an aunt and uncle that like a second set of parents, and a cousin that was more like a sibling. Over the years, Alex developed an artistic hobby, creating larger than life people, and art of real Super heroes like Captain America, the Thing, and some of his own heroes and gadgets. The gadget part also led to some science interest where he and his uncle would do as projects together. One day, while on a school fieldtrip to a Genetics Lab, where one of the genetically altered spiders escaped its cage and was carried home by Alex. While asleep, the spier bit Alex, causing him to have terrible dreams and caused his body to become more muscular. As the day went on, he discovered he had proportionate attributes of a spider, along with sixth sense that lets him be aware of any danger. But as a bonus, his fingers sharpened into talons. He would even use these abilities to enter an underground fighting tournament, where he won $1000. To hide who he was, Alex scrounged around parts for a makeshift costume, and eventually won. To get around this, Alex lied that about a bunch of kids at school did a bit. He used the money to develop his first web shooters; after all, a lot of spiders have webs, why can't he. He stayed behind after school in the science lab to produce the fluid to produce the webbing. Life was starting to go good for Alex, but unfortunately, his would run out.
One day, a bully accused Alex of stuff he had no involvement in, he hid himself away from most people and let out a temper tantrum, nearly breaking a few walls and public property. By the time he got home, it was late, and police were at his home. They told him about the death of his Aunt Sarah. Completely broken, Alex ran to his room to hide, but later that night, he wanted payback. When he caught up with them, Alex was about to kill the one who had killed Sarah, but her voice rang in his head. Specifically, a story about a horse who wanted revenge on a Stag. The horse got it in the end, but it cost him his freedom. Now, Alex realized what the story meant, so he strung the crooks up and left them for the police. After that night, Alex felt like he was a walking jinx to everyone he meets. Just his remaining family reassured him that he wasn't. For a while, Alex would try to recover, but would also reflect on the police. Why couldn't they stop the crooks in the first place? It was that question that made Alex think that most of the police or even the government didn't care about the people. If they weren't going to do their job, then someone had to step up and play ball. For a while he created the altarego, Spider-Man. As time went on, Alex developed blueprints for gadgets that could help, but he had no real means of developing them.
Fortunately, there was a special event going on involving both the Fantstic Four, and Stark Industries. Alex signed up for an internship program where he had access to materials and resources no ordinary person would get their hands on. While there, Alex combined the Fantastic Four's Unstable Molecules, and Iron Man's computer systems to produce his official Suit, but felt that he needed a new name. His general idea with criminals was to reveal himself when necessary/forced by other enemies, he decided on the name Shadow Crawler. A common insult was Wall Crawler, and he stuck to Shadows. So, it's a win-win.
