First real personal piece in ages. And it's a bird! Had this idea lying around for about 1 1/2 years, finally got to draw it.

This one shows an iconic photo from the pre-spacefaring era, after they launched their first satellites and wanted to send the first Neophron into space. Thing was that the government hoarded knowledge and everyone wanted to be the first land with a manned spacecraft. But without cooperation innovation was limited and slow, and the first shuttles malfunctioned or exploded on their way with the scientists/priests (it's almost the same) on board dying in front of everyone who hoped to leave the boundaries of their planet.

That's when the first revolts started. The young people hoped for a new age of innovation and a new frontier and didn't accept with the governments restricting and banning exchange of information and cooperation. Priests who tried to leave their lands so they can work together with other government space agencies were caught and imprisoned, the others heavily guarded so no knowledge would cross the borders.

Then three priests got killed. They tried to cross a boarder at night and nearly got away with a get-away vehicle. Then the soldiers mowed down everyone in the car. Everything was filmed, the video was leaked, and the population erupted. Huge revolts became civil warlike conditions in many countries. This photo became symbolic for these revolts. A young student, holding up his sign, signing the respectful salute of priests, a small gesture in such a huge chaos in the middle of the Golden City. Moments later the first shots were fired.

They got what they wanted in the end. Borders were opened, knowledge was shared, a huge cooperation of space agencies led to the first manned flight, a flight to their moons and everything else, so they can become part of the intergalactic community. But it was a rough road and many people were lost. It was no happy end and Neophron think about this as their biggest mistake in all of their history.
