This is the personal journal of Dr. Michael Altman, key researcher of the Black Marker, and founder of Unitology.

While Altman had several journals, many of them were lost or destroyed. His primary personal journal, though, survived, and he was not able to return, find and destroy it before he was captured by government agents.

The exact details of how the journal passed from the hands of the government down to the Church of Unitology are unclear and shrouded in secrecy.

The journal itself is unremarkable, made of acid-free paper and cardboard, typical of a field journal any researcher might keep.
The faux leather keeper band was added later at the behest of the Church. The letters are hand-tooled with genuine gold leaf. Other than this, it is unadorned in any way.
The outer cover shows come water and impact damage, and the pages show some stains from human sweat and coffee stains.

This is a project long in the making, the actual journal of Michael Altman. The games mention in the backstory logs some of his notes survived.
