Johann, (who greatly prefers to go by his nickname of merely Spix), was the heir to a wealthy family in Antova City. However well off they had been, tragedy struck when the current head of the family, Spix's father, was murdered by thieves after some of the family's well-known treasure. At the time, Spix's egg had not yet hatched, and even after the criminals had been brought to justice and the immediate danger had passed, his mother feared that it wouldn't be safe for him to hatch and grow up there. She fled Antova with his egg, hoping to reach a place where few had heard of their family and his late father's enemies would not find him. Spix hatched during her travels, and eventually his mother came across the town of Wynsiph, where she left Spix at The Nook, where she believed he would be safe.

Spix remembers very little of his mother, but he firmly believes that once he is older, he'll travel back to the place that should have been his home, and connect with any family he has left. Spix is a kind, respectful Wyngling, and is rather modest about mentioning his proud heritage. He hates it when others assume he's something of a snob or thinks he's better than them because of where he comes from, as this isn't true at all, and he has neither memory nor true connection to any of the aspects of a life he might have had.
