That's a cool tutorial, but it lacks the most important and easiest method.
Place your left hand on the paper, take pencil into your right hand and draw around the shadow. Voila!
Seeing how there's only left hand in the picture, you used this one didn't you?
Sorry for mocking.
Great tutorials, helping a lot.

The one hand in the corner looks really realistic, but I don't get why someone needs something like this if you have one on each arm xDΒ

I really love your tutorials, but actually fingers don't look like that. The upper segments of the fingers don't bend down, they bend slightly upwards in a flat curve. Also while you name the right measurement in the green area, you don't follow that rule in the part about the bendy bits. And the lower bits of the fingers are not equally bend down in the single parts. segment 1 often has a bigger "belly", while segment 2 has the rounding closer to the end of the finger to make room for the "belly" of segment 1, segment 3 is made of 3 curves, often forming a little "lip" that is important for the grip and to be more flexible when touching things.Β
I really appreciate that you provide free tutorial sheets, but they should be an accurate reference as well.Β

I love the people who make these guides - they are most helpful, especialy this one, since drawing hands is one of the hardest things, at least, for me it is
Cheers, matey :3

This is possibly the best hand tutorial I have ever seen. Do you by any chance have some insights on the differences between male and female hands?
(Btw: 'handy resource to have at hand' ...I see what you did there xD)

CGCookie In reply to darkestmelody [2013-03-27 15:48:42 +0000 UTC]
Wow, thank you! I was going to do a tutorial on that actually. Since female hands tend to be softer and with longer fingernails. But i also wanted to include young kids hands, babies, and elderly to really see the differences!

Good stuff but a little bit too 2D for me. It's hard to imagine the volume of the hand with only this.
I would like hands made out of boxes/wedges and cylinders more than your colored areas, only my opinion
