You use Photoshop, right? How do you get that lovely soft shading?

Thank you : ) I do use Photoshop, v7.0 if that helps. The short answer for soft shading would be a series of soft brushes with lots of layers, though I'm thinking of posting a pic or at least a portion of one showing all the layers and how they work together.

Also, really enjoying the lit component BTW. And that funky texture near the arm joint.
Color scheme's a good choice for the design too. I'd really like to see more of those navy and white accents on the rest of the body.

Yeah, I usually save the lit stuff for the close ups but I seem to love adding new levels of detail with each design even though they take longer each time : / I want to use more of the navy & white accents too but finding a balance is a little more difficult than I thought.
