That aside...
He's wearing African jewelry, the movie's set in Africa-- in the savanna specifically, and some black people do have naturally red hair.
Also, how many white people do you know from Africa? Not saying white people don't live there, but come on! (It wasn't until the past, what, two hundred years that white people started truly settling there too. Compared to the billions of years that Africans were there.)

Africa, as well as, some parts of Turkey and India have Lions naturally, and those people are all of darker skin to protect then from the sun by means of evolution. And I think those attributes should also be given to the humanoid version of these characters. That is only my opinion. And you do not have to like or agree with it.

That is so true! Besides, there's nothing wrong with using his own imagination, to produce his own version of Simba, in this [link] . Some people prefer to draw or paint the character as they first see them; instead of being appearance-Nazis! Why isn't Simba black here? Because he isn't -- pure and simple!! No biggie.

You do have a point, there: Indigenous peoples who live alongside lions do have darker skin colour. You are right, in asserting this fact.

And, to help you in this matter, I have found these two 'African Simba' art works, here on DeviantArt:

The only thing that people disagreed on, is that you didn't send a brief note, with just such assertions. As he is quite amiable (if also busy), he would have taken notice of your private note -- and perhaps thus redesigned the character, to make him look more African.

But then, even if the artist decided to leave the character 'as is'; then we must accept his judgment. Because that may just be his own view of the character in question.

Because everyone's view toward such things is different! And, try as we might; we cannot always change this fact.

I'm glad that you also like this artist's work; as he is exceptionally talented! Just be sure to send him a private note, if you disagree on his designs -- or even if you want to suggest that he alter such designs. Who knows? You might just discover that A) He may alter a character's design, to suit the character more correctly; and B) Such ugly discussions won't erupt, because of differences in opinions!

And, finally, the artist wouldn't have known about the discussion; unless someone has informed him thus. Any comments between commenters only reach the people they are directed toward.

Be sure to just let the artist know that you appreciate his work. Because directing him to such things may only lead to even more conflict.

When it comes to nitpickers and nitpicking, who cares? Besides, I rather like 's art! It's beautiful!!
