I guess it's possible to create a picture like this digitally, but it would take so much time to get the reflection in the water and the colors in the smoke and what not.
Not to mention the photo has the camera info attached with it ><

I know, I believe you. I was trying to convince the person above that this isn't because the time and effort required to actually do this on Photoshop is a little ridiculous. And why even bother going that length when it's possible (as you've shown) to take a proper picture of it?

I made some fireworks shots last night, but nowhere near as great as this. How do you keep them from being so over exposed? You have thin streams of light with just a bright point in the middle. When I left my shutter open for more than a few seconds, the streamers and the mid point were huge blobs of light. I'm trying again in 2 and in 3 weeks for upcoming events. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
