BONUS STORY:::

It was time to show her overcome her fears - Killer Queen was determined to get over herself to prove her strength of mind. She loved to explore but when it got dark, the forest had a lot of dark corners and shadows that often looked spooky or sinister in some way shape or form. Her instinct had always been to run as fast as she could through these areas until she could find a place where she felt comfortable and safe. Often times when she was accompanied by her pack, she had no problem going through the woods. But this night, it was cold and dark, the moon was shrinking so the light it gave off was not very helpful in traversing this challenge.
The entrance to this forest seemed harmless enough, but Queen proceeded with caution regardless of its initial appearance. She knew it would be a test of her wits and her mental tenacity and strength, but she was up for the task, or at least, she thought she was up for it. "Well, I better get going or else Ozark will be pissing herself laughing at me for coming back with my tail between my legs. Time to show her that I'm not just a pretty face, I'm also a strong, confident young she varg. I can do this!" She gave herself a pep talk as she started taking her first steps into the densely wooded forest. It seemed simple enough, the task was she had to locate a tree within the forest with the runes that spelled out the word for "strength" and be able to scratch it in the dirt when she returned to Ozark later that night, or possibly even early that morning depending on how long this would take her to accomplish.
Her head was on a swivel, looking back and forth as she padded deeper in, hearing every little noise that graced her ears. Every mouse skittering across the path and up a tree to their nest, every animal call. The coyotes were active in this forest, she could hear them howling to one another to keep track of their pack mates while they hunted the elk herd that Queen could smell on the air as well. The moon light glistened on some of the leaves of the variety of flora that was in this area. Queen sat down to orient herself and come up with a game plan. Her head tilted up as she gave a firm howl, "Awooooo!" and she then heard a cacophony of coyotes, but over the pack of coyotes she also heard a familiar voice, that of her pack mate Ozark. It would appear that Ozark was trying to communicate something to the effect of "Giving up already? Don't be such a wuss!" Queen was indignant by this, and barked frustratingly at the response. She wasn't giving up at all. She looked around to see a distinct pathway just ahead of her.
Every few yards she could see faint paw prints, and in between that were also other markings in the dirt, but she couldn't make out what they were. Her internal instincts told her to follow these markings with her nose to the ground and eyes keen on the indentations in the dirt, she was on the right track, she thought.
Coyotes seemed to be getting closer to her, eerily howling still to one another. "You're not helping! Bad enough I keep seeing things out of the corner of my eyes... doesn't help to hear your screeching howls coming ever closer to where I am at... but I guess I can't do anything about it unless I want to spend extra time hunting down a pack of coyotes, and then going back to find the trail i was following. Not worth it." Her frustration vented as she put her nose back to the ground and followed these paw prints and strange markings.
Suddenly the prints began to fade and it was becoming more and more difficult to follow. Not too much longer down the trail they faded entirely. Queen sat on the spot and began to think deeply about what she should do next. It was unclear now, as she had no leads to speak of.
As she sat there thinking the coyotes became the loudest they had been since she entered the forest. Suddenly as she was looking around she saw movement and then out of a bush pops a coyote which trots past her down another path, as it passes by there was a glowing rune painted on the coyote's coat. Immediately Queen leapt towards the coyote, following close behind as it trotted on down the pathway.
The coyote's rune glowed intensely, but every few yards she could see it start to flicker. It seemed odd, but she was hopeful that it didn't fade completely, or at least that the coyote still lead her to what she hoped was this tree engraved with the runes she would need to write out for her pack mate Ozark.
But her hope was soon dashed as the coyote faded into thin air, Queen skidded to a halt and looked around, everywhere seemed dark until she spotted yet another glowing rune, this time a different one, but again it was on what appeared to be one of the coyote's pack mates. She ran after it as it trotted up a rocky embankment with little trouble as she was a fairly dexterous felvarg.
Ahead she could see a large tree surrounded by smaller saplings and young trees, but this central tree was in fact the tree she had been looking for! Inscribed deeply in to the bark was the runes that spelt out the word for "strength" and she sat there, not realizing the second coyote had also vanished into thin air.
"This should be the tree Ozzy was talking about... I should stay here a while to make sure I have the runes committed to memory. I don't want to risk embarrassing myself in front of that giant of a felvarg, she would make me come in here again and do it all over again!"
About thirty minutes later, she felt confident of her memorization, and sniffed her way back down the hill, only stopping to howl back to Ozark to see what the best direction to exit the forest would be. A few moments of silent, then she heard an answer howl, to the effect of surprise, and an eagerly awaiting Ozark to see if her pack mate had actually successfully found the tree, and memorized the runes to boot.
Queen trotted through the forest on the way out like it was nothing, it seemed harmless now that she had concurred her task and felt extremely prideful of herself. She owned that forest now, nothing could harm her or scare her enough to stop her from going through any other dark forest ever again.
Later, she finally made it back to her pack and found Ozark laying by a hunk of meat she had saved for Queen. "So? Have you done it?" She asked her teasingly. "Sure I have!" Queen bellowed as she scratched feaverishly into the dirt the runes she learned meant "Strength" and backed away for Ozark to inspect.
Ozark looked them up and down, then looked from Queen to the runes, and back again. "Heh... well well little one, you have succeeded in the task I set you on. Well done."
