Description
Our two teams were walking back to their residences. It wasn’t that long ago that they had finished handing out the fliers, but it was still almost dark. As the three were almost about to reach Team Nyoom’s make-shift home, they heard something.“Pssst,” It whispered, “Over here!”
The two teams went over to the voice. It was Sundance, the weavile from the hunter’s guild. He was hiding behind the corner of a building and seemed anxious.
“What’s wro-“ Flapps tried to ask, but was cut off.
“Be quiet,” Sundance hissed, “We don’t want to get caught.”
“Oh, sorry…” Flapps whispered, apologetically.
“Listen, I need your help with something,” Sundance explained, “I was playing badminton with some friends earlier, but we lost pretty much all the shuttlecocks on private property…I need help getting them back.”
“…And why pick us?” Beatz asked, suspicious.
“Because you’re one of the ‘newer’ teams,” Sundance explained, “If you try to sell me out, they probably won’t take your word over mine. Also, you’re kind of one of the first teams I saw come by this way…”
“Alright, sure!” Flapps whispered enthusiastically, “We’ll help! We’re friends, after all.”
Beatz sighed, “We barely know him.”
“Everyone’s a friend,” Flapps explained, matter-of-factly, “Until they’re proven an enemy. It’s like the law but with life.”
“…Alright, fair enough,” Beatz shrugged.
“So you’ll help?” Sundance asked once more. All two of them nodded (since Ayden was staring off into space and wasn’t really considered “there”), which caused Sundance to smile.
The four came up with a simple plan. Ayden would dig into the private property (as it was surrounded by a fence) while Sundance kept lookout. Ayden, Flapps and Beatz would grab all the shuttlecocks they could in one load, bring them back and repeat. If someone was coming, Sundance would give them a signal and they’d cover up the holes and hide in the cavern. If for some reason they were caught, Sundance promised that he would think up some excuse that would hopefully get them out of trouble.
Ayden managed to dig the hole in a matter of minutes as Sundance found a vintage point on the top of a hill. The two teams went through the tunnel and looked out on the other side. They only went up enough to see out and reach their arm out to grab the shuttlecocks.
Grabbing a few, they made their way to the other side and put them in a pile right outside of the hole. After a few trips, the three of them heard someone whistle in the distance.
“...Guys, I think that was the signal!” Beatz whispered, panicked, “Hide!”
The three of them quickly covered up the whole on the side of the private property and hid in the hole. Not even a minute later, someone called down into the hole.
“It’s ok guys,” Sundance said, “You can come out. You grabbed plenty.”
Sighing in relief, the two teams climbed out of the hole, filled it in for the most part, and covered the top.
“I can’t thank you guys enough,” Sundance said gratefully, “I’ll try to repay you guys somehow.”
“It was no problem,” Flapps smiled, “But if you’ll excuse us, it’s been a long day and I’d like to sleep. Like, right now…”
With that, Flapps collapsed on the ground, fast asleep.
“…Is he ok?” Sundance asked.
“…I’ll be honest,” Beatz replied, “I have no idea. We didn’t even do much today…oh well, I’ll bring him back. Have a nice night.”
And with that, Beatz began to drag both and unconscious Flapps and an oblivious Ayden back to their home.
