Try using more than one major light source, to reduce hard shadows perhaps, and yes, I agree, use the auto-levels/colour filters to enhance the image, or play around with it. The gamut on your camera is a little narrow I suspect.

i would do the autocolor filter in photoshop on this one, making the legs look less pink.. just my 2 cents.
