Description
Yup, I got attached to a character that was just supposed to be for my raffle contest. It happens (often in my case).Trigger/Maturity Warning: Description below describes brief depiction of murder.
Name: Calliope Verishka
Species: Faun
Gender: Female (She/her)
Status: Undead
Age: Unknown
Class: Cleric (Grave Domain) / Paladin Champion (Oath of Vengeance)
Cause of death: Arrow through the left eye socket (Blood loss and infection)
Bio:
Calliope was the keeper of a Temple, located in a forest/swamp area. The temple was home to a divine Vestige, one made by the Goddess of the area. It was Calliope's job both to see to the Temple's needs and it's worshipers, as well as protect the Vestige from unsavory sorts.
Unfortunately; Calli was never the kind for physical altercations, and preferred to solve disputes with words rather than force. So, when a clan of bandits arrived at the temple's doors one night, she welcomed them inside for a rest- even though she knew they had clandestine intentions. She healed them, fed them, and let them rest protected inside the walls of her home. And still, once her back was turned- they shot her dead, and ransacked the temple- all but destroying it in their search for the Vestige. Once they had their prize, they left Calliope bleeding on the steps of the temple. She died slowly, cursing her own kindness.
Her Goddess reached out to her lamenting soul, and offered her a trade: Calliope would walk these woods once again, return to her Priestess' duties, and care for her flock- if the faun agreed to hunt down and kill each individual that befouled the Temple. Calliope accepted the Goddess' barter and rose once more- though much changed.
Her body was decayed on the side where it had fallen on the steps. Fungi and other plant life had begun to grow from it and feed upon her flesh. Her Goddess' invocation infected her- springing roots and branches forth from where the bandits arrows struck. She was also bestowed a new Vestige by the goddess, a right hand with the power of Decay and Rebirth.
So, the once peaceful faun ventured the land, searching for the clan of bandits that betrayed her kindness.
