Brain on overdrive,
What did it this time?
Quiet snuffles,
Breath held till
Cheeks red and
Nose wet and
A throat that ache-ache-aches.
Felt ashamed,
Felt like a tiny little babe.
Felt like I was
Only alone
Lost and cold,
Fear leaking out of eyes so
Lonely, so old.
Pounding veins,
Aching brain,
Tired eyes,
Broken sighs.
Sometimes I cry.
Hiccup-hiccup sigh.
