Let's raise some hell!... AI Artwork: An Unethical PracticeSince DA is allowing this AI Artwork Free-for-all, I'm going to have to start taking a hard stance against it. AI is an excellent tool for generating refs, bases, or inspiration. Things that aid you to draw or create works of your own. But when you generate an image via NovelAI and post it on here, it doesn't make you an artist. The artist was the person that programmed the AI.What you are essentially doing is taking exposure and business away from the talented artists that spent YEARS honing their style. Especially if you're charging people to essentially punch words into a prompt and generate an image. It's unbelievably sus! Honestly, any image produced via NovelAI should automatically have a watermark slapped across it to prevent this behavior... Therefore, I will personally be blocking people that exclusively post raw, unedited AI Artwork. It brings me no joy, seeing as how I typically don't block ANYBODY, but what you are involving yourselves in is wrong. I know this will be an unpopular stance to have. Please understand that this isn't anything personal. Just think about the slippery slope this will cause for creativity around the world. While true that there isn't much originality in the world, at the very least it took practice and effort to create artwork in YOUR original style. I feel like oversaturating the online space with AI will dissuade other artists from either honing their craft to create their own works or from continuing their chosen passion to create art in their own unique style. Essentially, this is the future Syndrome was threatening; when everybody is an artist, no one will be. I hope one day VERY soon, online art websites like DA will have a strict "No AI Artwork" policy. I don't care if you post your AI-generated "artwork" on sites like Instagram, Tumblr and Twitter. But Deviantart should be specifically for artists (digital, traditional, etc) to get the exposure they desperately need in this competitive market. Rant over. Thank you for reading.
