Description

This is the largest painting I've completed to date. spanning 9 feet wide and 3.5 feet tall.

Navigating through closed caverns, distant spaces and unidentifiable monuments. This painting was such a raw and visceral experience. It was mostly finger painting, where I was aiming at using unconventional materials and process. Wax crayons, sumi ink, gesso, ground pastels sprinkled into wet paint, and sticks to scrape through thick paint. I then latter went through with detail brushes and drawing tools to refine and detail the work.
It is currently adorning the wall of our music room and is the first painting visible when you enter our home.
