a bit more of closer crop would have been nice. I don't particularly like the distracting elements in the background.
You need to go a bit more lower, remember be in the plane of the subject. The slight angle ruins the DOF.

in my opinion, it's nice to see the setting and background of the subject, so cropping it would have a negative effect. the other elements are only distracting if you let them be. also i think centering a subject is cliche and predictable. variation will help eliminate stagnation in art. alternative is innovative.

yeah... i wanted to go closer, but was afraid of getting my camera wet.. i was using a 60mm lens where I needed a 80-100ish lens... about the elements in the background, I agree that it;s a little busy, but I like the atmosphere of activity and life it gives the picture.. and the kiddywink stands out because of the white spray of the fountain, so I was hoping it wouldn't be too distracting.

eeeek you're right! I was in a bit of a hurry so I didn't notice that the border wasn't pure white.. the yellow border does look quite weird. Have corrected it now, though.
