The (first) Doctor with companions Sally, Tommy and Harry (from 3rd Rock From The Sun)

I think this Team TARDIS would really work. Sally the sexy security officer who could kick major ass in the typical male companion with Hartnall roll as the fighter, Harry is the one asking the obvious questions to be the voice of the audience but also a transmitter and wiser than he seems, which The Doctor will be able to bring out in him, and Tommy being another wise old man so The Doctor can have a peer. With this young colder, irresponsible Doctor replacing Dick, he isn't a better role model and authority figure but it would be making better use of the other's skills. There is no 'emotional heart' of the group and these aliens have to struggle with that and discover the right thing to do together.
