Beatrice was born to a wealthy Southern family around the turn of the century. She was an ornery, feisty, and discontented young woman who desired more than what her family had planned for her. On the night of her debutante ball, she performed a ritual to summon a powerful demon, at the cost of her guests. With the presence of the great demon Kalrin, the two of them burned the property to the ground, only sparring the servants and staff. Once the initial ritual was complete, Bea offered her soul to the demon in return that she could have his power to protect her from the desires of others. With their contract sealed, the two of them fled.
Finally free from the concerns of society, Beatrice was content to live the quite, lonely life of a witch at the end of a quite country road. Scaring children and performing charms for any wayward soul that helped her with her chickens. This life was not quite as peaceful as she wanted however because for some reason Kalrin had taken a liking for her. She appreciated his company and his charm, so it wasn't hard for her to say no.
The two have been married for 80 years and it seems to be working out. Their son is off in some big city working on his degree.

So when he had gotten the scared pleas of a 16 year old girl to save her from a life of loveless marriages and schmoozing with racists, he was intrigued. The souls of the guests were payment enough in his eyes, frankly, a whole ball's worth of guests was a bit overkill for one summoning ritual in his eyes but he wasn't one to turn down a tip. Kalrin would have been content to simply give the girl a dash of magic for her trouble and was caught off guard when she offered him her soul for something so meager, a safe life alone. Never one to say no to a good deal, he did what she asked and he would have been happy to leave her alone to do what she liked but with her soul in his possession he felt as if he had to linger.
For years after their deal, Kalrin stayed around, just doing simple things, housework, chores, tending to animals, ensuring she'd never grow ill, just little things. He didn't intend to fall in love with her. There was just something about her strong, assertive nature that was absolutely divine to him. How could he not fall in love with a woman would castrate a bull with one hand. Desperate to be around her, he offered to help her learn and hone her magic, but she didn't need the help and was quick to outpace even him in his own craft. She was perfect in every way so, after decades of living together, when she asked to marry him, who was he to say no.
He adores their son and visits Meryl while he's at university to remind him to call his fucking mom.
