These two are the tundra twins’ adoptive parents, Pol and Johnny.
Pol
- They're a Diving Beetle. They're a fisherman and also Gridley and Grier's adoptive parent. They call them "cenn".
- They're 29 years old, they're non-binary, and they're pansexual.
- They’re serious, a little bossy, but caring, and hard-working.
- They were going to move away from Bonalinet to do some engineering work, but those plans shifted after adopting Gridley and Grier.
- They didn’t want kids at first, but when the twins hatched, they doted on them very quickly.
- They try to look out for their kids in any aspect and often see when things are wrong with their kids.
- He's a pillbug. He's a fisherman and Gridley and Grier's adoptive dad. They call him “dad”.
- He's 29 years old, he's a man, and, he's pansexual.
- He’s loud, wild, flirty, and basically a himbo.
- He was caught off guard by Pol bringing home two mysterious eggs with mysterious babies, but he soon got on board with raising them.
- He’s still quite irresponsible and Pol often gets angry/frustrated with Johnny and his frat boy tendencies.
- He’s trying to be a better role model for his kids though.
Pol and Johnny met in college as they were roommates. At the time, Pol was very angry and very cold, but Johnny managed to befriend them somehow. They’ve been inseparable friends since. After school, they moved into their own little house. Pol was preparing to move away to become an engineer and was making money by fishing. One day after fishing, they came upon a dying Griswalda and their life plans soon changed. When they returned home with her eggs, they were totally freaked out. Johnny did his best to comfort them. After some deliberation, they decided to keep the eggs.
Pol wanted to go and bury Griswalda as it felt wrong to leave her body like that. So the two went to do so. When they got there, her corpse was gone and all that was left was her necklace. They were both bewildered by this. Pol, seeing her necklace, scooped it up and went back home. When they returned home, they were met with crying as the babies had just hatched. In an attempt to warm them up, they went to grab blankets only to be blasted with the reality of what those babies were. Seeing them in the fireplace with fire made them realize they were no ordinary babies, but still needed love/care nonetheless.
The two raised the twins to the best of their ability. While they didn’t really understand the flame-eating, seeing as it helped them grow, they didn’t think about it much. After the whole ordeal with Gridley’s kidnapping, they ended up meeting the twins’ birth father. Having Elliot move in with them was already lively, but when Griswalda came back from the dead, it only got crazier. They ended up letting her move in too. She butt heads with Johnny still, but she and Pol get along fine.
