the seemingly mundane is made worthwhile in the presence of great company.

finally, a personal artwork that i did for myself. managed to squeeze this one in between several projects (some of which are pending completion), but i just had to or i might as well be done with the whole drawing thing altogether.
>whew<
anyway, back to work for me...
pscs2 with a wacom intuos, 16 hours spread over several days, in between several projects. thanks for viewing
two wallpaper versions of this artwork are in my scraps section, for anyone who wants this on their desktop. enjoy

i made it with one layer, on top view. then i transformed it according to the perspective of the image. then i duplicated that layer, filled it with a darker color, nudged it down a bit, then put it underneath the original layer. voila! 3d effect grating!

What a nice relaxed image. The portrayal of the two characters is nicely done, the way they lean into each other and their casual poses suggest close friends, if not more. Sure they look like a bit of troublmakers, the suspicious bottle and cigarettes, but nothing more then what you would expect of two youths enjoying a summer day,, (for a warm summer feel it certainly has, makes me yearn for the days of warmth where I could participate in the same sort of activity) Your coloring skills are suberb, clean, crisp lines, and a nice hint of textruing in certain areas such as the tower they are sitting on to keep the image intersting. Your attention to detail is extraordinary as well and keeps me coming back to the image to stare at it. Each individual grate, each link in the chain, the shadows cast, what seems at first glance a simpl painting becomes quite complex when you take a moment to observe it.
I would also like to say at this moment I really want that guy's hat.
Wonderful work, I very much enjoyed it and will msot certainly place it into my favs :3

You did a good job on hands and feet on this one, I really like that.. shadows are just fabulous as usual
I really like the title and the idea, it is not original but you've made it really special anyway.
your two persons in the picture are so well done! I am amazed how you did their expressions.

I love the small details in this. It's stuff we all do, you just never see it in pictures...like the sandal and the boy playing with the lighter.
And yes, how on earth did you do the grating?! And what brush did you use for the metal?

i used some dirty brushes for the texture of the metal, then i painted the highlights on a separate layer and applied several filters on it to produce those tiny bits of highlighting

I have a wacom intuos 3 with an 8 x 12 drawing area (they call it A4 size), worth 16,500 a year ago... now that same tablet costs around 22,000+
