Dude this is awesome, there is only one thing that looks off, the light coming through the trees on the right side. You have established the sun or source in the left, and it is lower and an warmer color than the rays that are falling on the right side. And as painted this makes it look like a secondary light source. I hope this doesn't sound like me crapping on this because I am not, other than a bit of confusion on the light sources this is phenomenal.

no, I love getting critiques. and I get what you're saying about the light. now that you mentioned it, I do see a secondary lightsource just because of the direction the light ray is going

Cool, I tread lightly when it comes to critiques.

I'm looking through all the entries checking out the competition. I love how you did the forest. I also like that Arlo seems like he's hiding while Spot just looks happy to tag along. Great job!

thanks! originally, I wanted to add a shadow of a creature in there, but there is no space. and so I have this.

Honestly, if you wanted to add a little something a pair of eyes barely visible in the dark lower right corner would be more than enough to hint at danger :3. However, I think it's pretty great just the way it is.Β

thanks. I went for a tunnel scene where they are exiting a dark tunnel and into the lighted area

Can you do Β me a huge favor? How did you complete the CG/3D effect while keeping in 2D. What brushes and settings did you use for this piece. Last favor, the opacity/fill, Layer setting as well as the blending effects? Please and Thx.

under the link on the description will take you to my facebook post, where I have WIP shots; just scroll through the images.

- For the 3D/CG effect, I slap on an filter layer, this becomes the dust particles. it also helps to build atmosphere, this way, even if the image is flat, you create a sense of depths.
- Brushes, I use only a soft airbrush throughout the entire painting.Β
- I used a few adjustment layers to change the lightings, but that's about it
